A Hot Day!

It was such a hot day to be running Track and Field, but the kids fought through the heat and showed such talent and sportsmanship today. A congratulations goes to all the kids who participated today, and continued success to those moving on to U of T on Thursday. Mr. Page and Mr. Bracht will keep you posted of the results when they receive them. Thank you to all the parents who sat under the umbrellas today cheering the kids on; we really appreciate your support.

Recently, we received our Spring CTBS (Canadian Test of Basic Skills) results that our grade 4-8 students complete. Feel free to scroll through previous blogs to receive more info on the assessment, but in a nutshell, it is a standardized diagnostic that we use in the junior and intermediate grades to determine grade levels in reading, language and math. This is just an in-house assessment, not a standardized TDSB one, that we use to compile whole school data. Just like every other assessment, we take it with a "grain of salt" as there is good and bad about every standardized test. But it does give us an opportunity to have another piece of data to compare to other assessments, like EQAO. The following shows how the grades did comparing Fall to Spring assessments. As you can see from the data, growth was experienced in most areas; a very impressive result. When you read the results keep in mind that "GE" stands for Grade Equivalent-the number indicates what you would expect a student of that grade and month to achieve on the test. We'll post results on website also! (Sorry, the formatting shows up a bit strange on the blog)
