What an exciting day yesterday! We hosted two kindergarten Sharing Assemblies and played three football games. To say the least, it was busy. Congratulations to all the students who played ball; you made LKS very proud. Good luck to the Junior team as they continue on next Tuesday. Thank you Mr. Bracht as you carried on without your coaching partner, Mr. Kuru.
On Tuesday, we had our Sharing Assemblies for the primary, junior and intermediate students. Elizabeth, Matthew and Trudy hosted our junior/intermediate assembly that focused on the character trait of "Responsibility" and they did a fabulous job; they are naturals in front of an audience. The intermediate students will continue to host as it provides great leadership opportunities.
We are really looking forward to our Parade on Monday. We are hoping many of you come out to celebrate our little ones in costume. We'd like to go around the new track, so please line the field when you are waiting for us. The grade 8 students will once again, be hosting their annual haunted house (not too scary for the little ones). All funds ($2 entry) raised will go to the end of the year graduation trip to Quebec. We know the kids are going to get lots of candy over the next couple of days (a downfall to dieting staff members), so please remember that we are a "nut-safe" school!
This week, our new SmartBoard arrived, along with a class set of "clickers". The clickers will allow teachers to set a test on the SmartBoard and the students can answer using their "clickers". These devices are going to prove very valuable to teachers as they will provide instant "feedback" for the teacher. Once we get trained on them, we will demonstrate their use at a Parent Council meeting. We want to again thank you, the community, and Parent Council for providing these funds. We have almost purchased all the items allocated from the Parent Council: namely the Smart Clickers, 3 document cameras, projectors and carts, a SmartBoard, the Grade 6 Music Camp, and junior anthologies that teachers use in their language programs. A cello will be purchased shortly. All resources are greatly appreciated by staff and students.
In closing, congratulations to Mr. Kuru and his family as they welcome their new baby boy home.
