This week, we will be celebrating Family Literacy Day on the 25th with author Cheryl Thorton (http://cherylthornton.com/), Cheryl will be presenting to our students throughout the day. Cheryl has been with us a few times, and the students tend to enjoy her presentations. We hope you enjoy the "real" literacy day on the 27th (school PA day). A special thanks to Ms. Wardrop for organizing our Chapters Night on Feb 1st.
We hope to see many of you on the 24th for our parent information night. Please join us in the library @ 7:00 p.m. Ironically, I read an article this week and saw a television show advertised on "Bubble Wrapped Children"- a new term for me. Basically, health professionals are seeing a growing number of child anxiety cases related to the stress of over-protected children. Children are not being given the chance to take risks and think independently, subsequently not learning how to cope with failure, leading to a high level of anxiety over time. Hopefully, we can talk about this on Tuesday.
Arts Express pamphlets are in the office. They are offering "Glee Time" again. This is an after school drama club run by a private group. More pamphlets from a variety of groups can also be found in the stand by the office.

Week Ahead
Today is Family Literacy Day and I do hope that you are enjoying it together as a family. This special celebration began 10 years ago with the hopes that families would enjoy literacy together So, we hope you take some time today to read, sing, play games etc. together as it is just one more way to support our family bonds, and literacy!
We would also like to welcome Michelle Hoffman to our staff. She is officially replacing Dr. Grant for the remainder of the year. She will be teaching our grade 5 afternoon class and music from grades 1-6. Welcome Michelle to our LKS community!
