September 16, 2011

Once again, it's been a wonderful week at LKS. The weather has been terrific and the students are enjoying the last bit of warm weather.

We hope to see you next Thursday for Curriculum Night. Times should be posted on teacher blogs/emails or websites and there is a schedule under "Notices" on the website. Please come to meet the LKS staff and be introduced (or reintroduced) to the year's curriculum.

Over the next two weeks, the students will be busy collecting for our annual Terry Fox Run and Seeds of Hope; two very important initiatives in the school that remind us of the importance of giving back to the community (local and international). On our website, you will also find a letter under "Notices" from the TDSB sharing information on the "Disaster Relief in East Africa". Our thoughts go out to our families in the community who have been affected by these events also.

PARENT COUNCIL MEETING
--------------------------------
The first LKS Parent Council meeting of the 2011/2012 school year is on Monday, Sept 19th @ 7pm in the Library. Everyone is Welcome! We will be voting in the New Council.

This is a great opportunity to help make a difference at your child's school!
Whether you want to join council as a voting member, join a committee and work behind the scenes, or just know who Council is and what it does (no pressure)! Join us on Sept 19.

We have volunteers for some positions but are still the following:
- Chair & Vice-Chair
- Literacy Committee
- Springfest Committee
- Environment Committee
- Community Outreach Committee
- Playground Committee
